WFMC Women’s Groups
Here are some of WFMC’s women’s groups for fall, 2024. All are intergenerational and a place for fellowship and connection:
Mere Christianity book study
Starting August 28th, a group of women will be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 12:30p in Room B203 to discuss the book, ‘Mere Christianity’ by C.S. Lewis. Please join us if you are looking for a place to connect with other women who yearn to know Jesus and follow Him more closely. Contact Jessica Bowers for more information.
Common Threads
Common Threads – uncommonly caring people. Do you enjoy knitting or crocheting and have a heart for the grieving and suffering? Common Threads is a warm-hearted group that gathers for fellowship, prayer and to work on prayer shawls and other projects to comfort those in need. Join Common Threads weekly starting Thursday, September 5 from 10:00a – noon in Room B107. Supplies provided. Any skill level welcome. Questions? Contact Carolyn Rumble
Tuesday Sister to Sister Group
The Tuesday morning “Sisters” group has been meeting for over 20 years, led by Sammie Moore and Ruth Cook. Each week an hour or so is spent in Bible study, discussing four study questions that have been provided the week before. Another hour is spent in fellowship, enjoying refreshments, and sharing prayer requests. We meet in Room 203 from 9:30a – 11:30a for approximately ten weeks in the fall and another ten in the spring. Sharing is welcome but never required! Throughout the week, online prayer requests from members are provided, giving us a strong support in prayer and other expressions of love and care. This fall’s session begins September 17th with a study of 2 Thessalonians followed by a study of the women listed in Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus. Inquiries can be directed to Ruth Cook.
Monday Women’s Study
This diverse group of women meets during the school year on Mondays from 10:00a to 11:30a at 20 Veterans Drive (Metcalf’s home). While most of the ladies in our group are from WFMC, about 1/3 are a part of other congregations, and some participants meet with us via Zoom.
Sometimes we study a book of the Bible and sometimes our study is topical. Each week we sing and pray together and Yvonne Moulton introduces a short teaching video, followed by group discussion. Past studies have been by people like Beth Moore, Jessica LaGrone, Max Lucado, Dallas Willard, Tim Keller, N.T. Wright and others. This September we plan to begin an 8-week study of Steve Seamands’ book and video “Follow the Healer.”
While diverse in nationalities, church backgrounds and ages, we are united in our love for God and desire to study His Word. The home setting contributes to strong bonds that are formed as we pray for each other and study God’s Word together. We invite you to join us.
Ladies’ Night Out
Women of all ages – come join us as we spend time together in fellowship, eating and laughing. We meet each first Monday evening through the school year (may move to second Monday if the first is a holiday) at 6:00p at different local restaurants – announced in the church worship folder. We’re having lots of fun together but it will be even more fun if you are with us.
Women’s Prayer
Womens’ prayer meets in room A200 on Tuesday mornings from 9:00a to 10:00a. Our prayer emphases are the requests from the Sunday welcome cards, the prayer and mission foci from the bulletin, and any requests from those of us attending. Please join us.
