Local Missions

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…”

Local Missions is what we call both personal and corporate intentional outreach efforts within our national borders.  Of course, this involves nearly everything we do personally and corporately.  Here are just some examples of ministries we value…outside the walls.

Lifestyle Evangelism involves every believer speaking of Christ through the life that we live before others, always pointing to the Savior, with lives of integrity, humility, trustworthiness and faithfulness. We desire to be ready to say a word for the Lord because Jesus said, “If I am lifted up, I will draw all people to myself.”

Evangelism is not only about winning souls to the kingdom, it is also about planting seeds of salvation, and about watering those seeds of salvation that have been planted by others but are not yet ready for the harvest. God-pleasing evangelism recognizes the part God wants us to play in the lives of those we encounter.  At WFMC we participate in organized, evangelistic, simple acts of sharing our faith, bringing compassion with the Word of God.

Child Evangelism Fellowship, dedicated to evangelism outreach to children, trains and equips leaders for after school “Good News Bible Clubs” held in three Jessamine County elementary schools. Summer events include “Five Day Clubs” and local outreaches at fairs and festivals.

School Outreach Team  helps with local school functions, providing a Christ-like presence and example in the classrooms and school special events.

International Friendship extends help and friendship to internationals at Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary, as well as those living in surrounding areas, inviting them into our homes, hearts and communities. Central Kentucky has a growing number of internationals from many countries  – from migrant farm workers to professional people. Your next-door neighbor may be a business executive from India or a university professor from Latin America.

Church and Society, loving others as Christ loves us, carries to our community the message: “Love Cares.”  We regularly present information from agencies, community centers, schools, etc. for opportunities to serve others.

Assurance for Life (pregnancy care center), located in Lexington and Frankfort, the Center provides spiritual and medical counseling, medical care, adoption services and financial assistance to girls and women who find themselves in unplanned pregnancies.
